Sorry for such the big break in posts. I have been super busy lately.
Thursday:
Long day of classes because I had both of them. After school I ate and then Abby and I headed out to visit some churches so we could write an essay for Dr. Wilson. We got to the first one alright, once we found the right street out of Marienplatz, but then we kinda got lost on our way to the second one. We found a random church (which happened to be the one we were looking for, it was just listed under a different name) and it was really really pretty. It was baroque so it had all the gold, silver, and red decorations. After looking around, we tried to find the second church (little did we know we had just seen it). It started to rain and thunderstorm really badly. Th lightning was directly overhead and we only had a small, one-person umbrella for the both of us. After giving up on finding the church, we sloshed our way back the the S-Bahn station and went home. I was wet, hungry, and just wanted to snuggle in bed. So, after eating dinner, I changed, did my homework and then went to bed.
Friday:
Abby and I got to class on time and the sun was shining, for a while. It got really cold after class and we went to Dr. Wilson's to see her puppies that her host family had. They were so adorable. I went home and packed then took my stuff to Abby's. We packed together in her small suitcase so that we didn't have to worry about too much stuff for Nuremberg. We watched the Germany game at her house then headed to the S-Bahn to head to Munich. We met up with the group and got on our train to Nuremberg. It was waaaay over booked so we had to sit in between the cars on the floor. We met a couple from New Zealand, so it made the journey more bearable. We got off and walked our way from the train station to the other side of the city to our youth hostel. It was actually the old stable of the castle there converted into a hostel, so we were high up on the hill and could see the entire town. The climb up was pretty strenuous though. We set up our rooms and then were set free. We ate at a restaurant down the street from our hotel then wandered around and looked for some night life. We went to a bar and a club then half of us headed back for the night. I slept really well that night.
Saturday:
We met with Dr. Webber at 10:00 and took a small tour around old Nuremberg. We ended in the main market and were then set free to go on our own. I hung out with Abby, Haley, and Cameron. We shopped until we had to meet back up with Dr. Webber at 3:00 at the German Museum. We walked around for about an hour, saw lots of armless statues, then headed out to eat. Most of the restaurants were full and since we had eight people we had to wander to find one. We ended up at a small place where there wasn't a soul inside. We had a lot of fun and then headed back to the hostel. Abby, Haley, Ashlyn, and I all hung out in our room. We played cards, talked, painted our nails, ate, and just had a great time. We didn't go to bed until about 1:30. It was a great bonding experience.
Sunday:
Our second day in Nuremberg began and we met up with Dr. Webber at 10:30. We took a bus to the Dokumentationszentrum. It was an old building used by the Nazis that has now been turned into a museum. We walked through it, which took about an hour and a half, then went to the large stadium where Hitler made his speeches (the one that you see with the three large Nazi flags behind him) We caught the bus and then the train back the Munich. Abby and I actually got a seat this time and took a lot of funny pictures. Once back home, I ate dinner (spaghetti) then worked on my homework until bedtime.
Monday:
Today I got up on time and had eggs and bacon for breakfast. It wasn't raining but it was still cold. School was boring as always but I learned some cool stuff and Dr. Wilson's class is always a fun time. After school I ate lunch (sausages and mashed potatoes) and then headed to Abby's to do homework. We played with Eva a little then helped Julia create a Facebook account. Finally, we got to homework. I got most of mine done for both classes, I just have another short essay to write and more vocab words to find and define. At 6:00, Abby and I met up with Dr. Wilson and she took us to register at the local gym. It cost 23.50 Euro for a month when usually it's waaay more expensive. We then took an aerobics class called "Bauch, Bein, and Po" (Belly, Legs, and Butt). It was super fun. Abby and I have decided to go do something at the gym at least every weekday so that we get our money's worth. I'm now back home and trying to catch up on all my blogging and journaling, then it's time for more homework. Later
