Finally, an update! (I'll get better at this, I promise)

Tuesday, June 8
I only got about an hour of sleep on the plane. The lady in front of me had her chair back all the way and I could not lean mine back because the man behind me was seven feet tall. I tried at the beginning of the flight but he told me I was crushing his knees. So I was forced to find creative ways to sleep. We got to Germany half an hour early, which was nice for my seat partner. Her layover was originally an hour and a half with having to go through customs, but then she had two. We met with the "wonderful" Dr. Webber and headed to the train. I already wanted to kill him. I tried Chardonnay wine and a carbonated apple juice called Apfel-schorle. My host sister and Abby's host mom picked us up from the restaurant and headed to our houses. I was fine until I started unpacking, then I lost it. I cried for an hour then slept for two. Abby and her host mom came over and Abby kept hugging me when I cried. Then my host dad showed me were the school was. ON the way back we stopped at a small market to get dinner supplies. We ate hamburgers. I can see Abby's house from my balcony. Walter and I are going over soon to hang out. I can already feel my German improving. It's actually kind of hard to write in English. That is all for now.

I woke up early today around seven. The morning was so beautiful. It was sunny and cool with a slight breeze. I ate breakfast with Walter and the mom. I for get her name. At 10:15, Abby and I walked to school. I came home at one and ate pea soup with Carola then met with the group to go to Munich. I was hot but fun. Abby and I didn't stay to drink with the group. Instead we went shopping at H&M. I got a pretty purple dress. Now I am relaxing and I'm hungry. I didn't eat dinner because 1. Walter is working 2. Carola already ate and 3. I was not hungry. Maybe I'll munch on a few chips here soon. Abby, Hayley, and I got ice cream in Munich. It was so good. I had a scoop of raspberry and a scoop of chocolate. I'm so tired. I'm not sure what I'm going to do after classes tomorrow. I think Carola wants to go swimming this weekend...if i understood her correctly. Anyway, I need to get some sleep.

First day of classes! I got up around 7:30 and got ready for the day. For breakfast, I had a pear, a roll (one half with Nutella and the other with honey. I can't eat that much Nutella on bread, sticky mouth) a big pretzel and coffee. During class I became really stressed because we just kept getting more and more homework. After class I ate lunch (noodles with cheese and onions, peas, and Spezi) then went to Abby's house. We were supposed to go swimming with the group but they never called so we went alone. It was so interesting. There were old men in Speedos and really young girls with no tops. It seems that here a girl can go without a swim top until about six years old. It's just what they do here. Also, young kids change their clothes in front of everyone. There was also an old man who kept wrapping a towel around his waist and switching back and forth between two Speedos. Apparently on is for swimming and one is for laying out. We went home around six and I ate leftovers from lunch for dinner. I talked to Carola about American tv shows she liked; Simpsons, Family Guy, Scrubs, etc. Then I did my homework while talking to Robbie. I'm super tired. Every evening I'm just ready to pass out. I think it's because I have to think so hard all day, that and I have to walk everywhere. I'm going to bed now. Night

Friday, June 11
I woke up tired this morning for the first time. I'm not usually tired until after class. I only had one today. Burkon's class meets every day but Wilson's class is only on Monday and Thursday. When I got home I went for a five minute swim with Walter. I just have to get over the fact that men wear Speedos, it was fine until it was Walter. We then ate lunch which was fried pork and fries. Abby came over and we did homework while watching the opening ceremonies for the World Cup. She went home around four so I took a short nap before getting ready to head to Munich. We met everyone at seven at the train station. We got off in downtown Munich and ate dinner at a small restaurant. It was a lot of fun. I had some kind of pork, spinach noodles, and a Raddler (beer with lemonade). Things started to get crappy after that. We had a group of nine and everyone wanted to do something different. Brad wanted to bar hop, Greg wanted to find a disco, Sam wanted to chill and drink, Emily and Elizabeth wanted to find boys, etc. So, for two hours we wandered around and only stopped at one bar. I didn't have anything there. So my total for the night was half a beer. Anyway, around 11:30, Abby and I left the group and headed home. I find it simple to navigate the U- and S- bahns. I miss everyone back home so much, but I wouldn't trade this fun experience for anything. Everything here is amazing. I want to come back next summer. My feet hurt a lot so I'm gonna go lay down. Goodnight.

Now that I have a routine and homework, I'll try to update everyday or every other day.
