My trip has gotten off to a fantastic start. I woke up today ready to travel. Mom and Robbie accompanied me to the Cincinnati / Northern Kentucky Airport where we met up with other members of my group. At one o’clock I bid my farewells and made my way through security. It was the same drill as always; took off shoes and jacket, took laptop out of messenger bag, sent personal items through scanner and then walked through detectors. I always hate having to put my shoes back on. It is so difficult to do so standing in the middle of an airport. In any case, Emily, Abby, and I made it to the gate where we relaxed for an hour before boarding our United Express plane. I was able to take a short, twenty-minute nap between being served a Diet Coke and landing in Chicago. The group had a two hour layover at O’Hare so we ate a small dinner (I had a soft pretzel, for I was not terribly hungry) and waited to board our Boeing 777 plane to Germany. I was lucky enough to receive an aisle seat next to a girl of my age. She is heading to Poland to study there. In all it has been a good flight. I ate chicken and rice for dinner and now I am filling out all of my journals and blogs for today. The only bad things have been that there is a young child on this plane who keeps crying. I can tell the other patrons are becoming annoyed for it is nearing sleeping time. In fact, once I finish this post, I myself will take a rest. The second issue has been the turbulence we experienced when leaving the land to fly over water. That Canadian wind is mean! Anywho, it is time to sleep, for I will be landing in Munich in about five hours.
